Default Dumb question or, (new home attachments)

Maybe not. I found a set of New Home ruffler attachments but can't figure out how to get larger part out of the box. I can't figure out how its held in there and I don't want to break anything. The smaller parts just slide out but the big part is a different story.

Sorry about that. Heres the pictures. Theres 2 pictures but its the same attachment box. I just flipped it around so a better view of both sides could be had. Sorry the pictures aren't super clear but without the tripod I'm not real stable. I don't shake but rather I rock or weave back and forth

Push down on the long bar and it will unhook from that little T shaped part in the middle. That part is actually fixed in the box, and NOT part of the attachment, so don't try to take it out.

BTW - that part right next to the ruffler is part of the Tucker.

Thank you so much, that worked perfectly. Any idea what machine this goes to?

These are the three parts that make up the tucker

Yours has two of them put together - this is where the third one goes.

Thanks, without your pictures I don't believe I would have figured it out.

show what the two plates that are under the tucker look like. That is the best place to start. One interesting item - you will see the tuckers with different gaps in the coil on the one end. Notice mine is coiled tight and yours has a gap? That is done to fit different machines, as the little hook on the long bar hooks onto the needle of the machine, so it's got to be lined up right when the tucker is mounted to the bed of the machine.

It looks like yours has either an oval or round cutout - oval is most likely Domestic, but could be Household, and there are a few other oval needle plate machines.

If round, it's mostly likely Eldredge or New Home, and I do mean Eldredge and not National. the older Eldredge machines were slightly different, and some of the attachments don't fit both - and this style tucker is one of them becuase the realtionship to the bed mount hole and the needle is not the same.

Anyway, if round, then measuer the diameter of the presser bar hole in the ruffler - Eldredge will be around 1/4" and New Home is smaller, about 3/16" New Home has a stepped end to the presser bar, so the very end is narrower in diameter than the rest. You can't see this until you take the foot (or top clamp adapter) off the machine.
