Early 66 modified to stitch in reverse

This one is G 984311 which is 1911 according to Ismacs, so the presser bar was changed out. Also it seems to have the hinged presser foot. This revco device is 1951, so the changes may have been made by the next generation or 2nd owner.

My take on the back tack vs reverse is this. If the machine will sew in reverse you can adjust the reverse stitches just as you can the forward stitches. Those machines that do a back tack will only to small non adjustable stitches in reverse. Just enough to back tack your stitch.
