Default Electro Grand zig zag - help advice or manual

A friend gave me his wife's machine after she passed. I don't have a manual for it. I have had it working several time but the needle breaks. I threaded it based off a different manual and my basic know how. I suspect it may be a tensioner issue. Any help is appreciated. Or if someone can help me find a manual I'd appreciate that.

Electro Grand is a badge name so we need a picture of your machine to help you. I don't think it's tension issues.

Can you turn it by hand and see if the needle is hitting or dragging against another steel part?

Is the needle seated correctly, up to the stop? Are you pushing the fabric through, rather than letting the feed dogs set the pace?
