Default Elna Supermatic Green Machine 722010

I'm new to this site and was hoping someone can help me find a replacement rubber friction pulley for my Elna Supermatic 722010. Thanks!

I think White Sewing Center still has the most reliable quality for the Supermatics, at least he has the best reputation. If you are in the US it's proably the best source. There are other suppliers, but some new replacement pulleys are not worth the effort. The original pulleys had a bakelite core to support the rubber and ran very stably, some of the newer ones turn almost inside out when ran on higher speeds.

I managed to get my hands on an aluminium pulley, and if you can it's worth it. Now and then a guy with a lathe machine and know-how makes up two or three, and he might be persuaded to sell one. They are fitted with o-rings and have good grip. I found mine through the vintage elna group on yahoo.

A temporary solution can be to sand down the rubber pulley to even out the flat spot. You might get better grip that way too, since rubber is often in better condition under the surface. Some have used violin bow rosin on old pulleys to give them better grip again.

I remember mine required a lot of oiling and cleaning before it ran as it should again.

Welcome aboard. Mine took a lot more cleaning and oiling than my Singers, but less
than the Necchis. My drive wheels are still old and noisey.

Link is to a pic of my pair.

Unfortunately Ray White is out of parts
All of the friction wheels from the only current manufacturer are defective and I choose to not sell poor quality parts. I cannot accept orders at this time nor can I guess when or even if new friction wheels may be available. I am currently searching for a new manufacturer. I will post the new friction wheels here when & if they become available.
    Please don't inquire.

I'd like to get my hands on an aluminum one for myself and an aquaintance who is in my area and contacted my directly, but I can't recall who makes them. Anyone know?

Unfortunately not, but about twice a year there are one or two guys on the yahoo group making up a few metal wheels. If you post there and maybe search up an older thread on the subject. There was a guy asking if there were any interest if he had a few made up earlier this autumn. If you know someone with access to a lathe machine (or more avanced equipment) there is a technical drawing in the files section free for anyone who want's to give it a try.

Maria, maybe Farmer John over on VSS would be willing to give it a shot. He's fabricated a few things for members over there. Can't hurt to give it a shot.

Thanks for the info Mickey. I am very much interested in getting my hands on the aluminium pulley. I will try to find the vintage elna group on yahoo. Do you have the link? Thanks again for your help.

Here's the Vintage Elna group. Some of us are registered a couple of places on the web and try to keep updated. Some on the VSS forum are very good at making replacement parts themselves, impress me endlessly :- )

Just love my Elna Supermatic. She still runs but will be much quieter with a new friction wheel. I have learned to loosen the wheel to take the pressure of when not in use. I have not figured out how to get the bobbin rewinder to work??
