Excited! My First Treadle!

Can anyone tell me what model it is? The serial number is in one of the pics. I don't want to wait until I get home to call Singer. And what do the letters/numbers mean on the inside of the legs?

Congratulations -- it's gorgeous and seems to be in great condition. I don't think you paid too much. Consider what $175 will buy new. I know there are a lot of old machines around, but they're not making any more of them and eventually the value of pieces in good condition will increase. I think it has already, as the population increases and the collector community gets bigger.
I thought the seller's comment was funny -- People make furniture out of them? Aren't they furniture already? What do you do to make it into furniture? Remove the machine which was hidden already?
According to Ismacs it's a 127 with a production date of Sept 2 1924, however I don't think the date is exact because 25,000 were supposedly made on that date. Here's the serial number database:

Thank you. I had seen the date, but didn't know hoe to figure out the model.
Got her all packed and strapped down in back of truck heading back to illinois from Tennessee. Can't wait to get a new belt and clean her up.

I think you did very well! That machine is beautiful. I've got a 127 sphinx sitting down in GA waiting for me, and she'll be coming home when we go visit in October.
With the serial number database, the date is when Singer allocated that range of numbers for that model machine, so if you look and find the next time Singer allocated numbers for you model, it's pretty safe to assume that your machine was made sometime between those two dates. Though I would expect Singer allocated more numbers several weeks before they finished with the current production run.

Macybaby,
Cathy, welcome to the QB Forum. Glad you made it.
That's a nice 127 Sphinx. I wish mine was in as good a shape. Mine sews pretty good but the decals are no where near as nice as yours. Mine needs a treadle home too.
Looking forward to your posts.
