I have a 1948 which was found in my attic! Named her Shirley after my DML who originally owned her.

She hadn't been used for 20+ years. Cleaned her up, oiled, DH did something on the bottom (oil or grease or whatever), plugged her in and she purred. I swear she was smiling on the first run, so happy to be in the light and feelin' the love.

Proud owner of a FW, "Penny". Just finished a Quilt Shop Hop here in SW Mich and Northern Ind. Have just the kind of blocks made for a FW project. Had rotator cuff surgery 4 weeks ago and cannot wait to start quilting agan-hopefully soon. I will attach her picture!

I received 2 from DH on mother's day. He had been cleaning and making them pristine. I think he has sewn on the twins more than me. LOL. I think he plans on taking one for himself to help me make Linus quilts. He is a great guy and I think I wil keep him. I did settle on naming the twins, Marvin and Maggie.

I too was concerned about what shape she would be in after winning the bid on e-bay. I found the enlarge button and saw places on the bed. I thought it might be rust but when she arrived it was just blimishes in the wax. After cleaning and checking her oil pad which someone had changed I cranked her up and she hummed and sewed perfect. Sticthes just as they should be. The case had no smell just a small place on the conner. When you realize she is 60 years old I was amazed. If you bought from a dealer with a good rating I am sure yours will be fine. They are like the ever ready bunny they take a beating and just keep on ticking!
