Love my 221. Did pay $350 for it, but I never regretted. Pristine condition and sews like a dream!

I have 4 and they all sew perfectly straight. That is one thing that I really like about them besides they travel well to classes or retreats. Also sew on one at home, leave one up in another room for a project which has no time limit. They are a super machine. Have them for a fews years already when they were low in price. I have one also which belongs to a freind in Australia, which they will pick up along with other articals when they come back this way on holiday.

It sounds like you either have a bent needle or you don't have the needle in correctly.
The flat of the needle goes in with the flat side to the left. Threads from right to left.
The 301 uses the same bobbins as the 221 fw.

I started collecting featherweights and 301s about 10 years ago, at one point I had 5 of each. I'm down to one black 301 short bed. The Featherweights are:A tan,2 black 1957 and 1951 centennial. They all sew a wonderful stitch.

My featherweight is a black centennial, and got her this year. Her first job was a charity quilt and she did a perfect job!

I wonder what he would say to me, I drive a 1951 Ford for my daily driver.

Wow, Am I the only person with a FW machine from the 60's? Everyone else is posting earlier date machines. Just wondering if I goofed and should have gotten an earlier date one. Still learning lots here.

Can I join? I've got three. One from '56, one from '46 with the lovely art deco panel and I just got a Centennial.
