Featherweight Foot Controller Same As 301?
My husband bought me a Featherweight on eBay (long story) but the foot controller was old and the plug came off so I can't even find out if the motor runs. I also have a 301. The foot controllers appear to be the same. Could I use the controller from the 301 on the Featherweight?

Just to make sure I understand you correctly if you mean only the controller itself, yes it will fit either one. Matter of fact you don't need to do any rewiring because both machines have the same 3 pin terminal on the machine to plug in the foot control. . Check here to see what I'm referring to http://shop.sew-classic.com/Cord-Set...ers-SCE123.htm
Foot controllers are pretty much generic and can be used on many machines. I have wired one from my 1948 Singer 15-91 onto a 1960's Japanese made White.

Yes. The same set up was used for many Singer models. The only way it wouldn't work is if your 301 uses two separate cords for power and controller. Some 301s do and some just use the same set up as the FW.

Sorry ignore my answer above, I can't edit it and it isn't completely correct. Here's my updated answer:

Only problem I can see is if your 301's foot controller plugs into a 2 or 3 pin terminal. This is a 2 prong wire http://shop.sew-classic.com/Cord-Sin...rol-197628.htm. If both the Featherweight and 301 have a 3 pin terminal like this http://shop.sew-classic.com/Cord-Set...ers-SCE123.htm than don't need to do any rewiring. You can plug it directly into the Featherweight.

Yep you should be fine. Actually, the 301s and other machines that have the separate plug for the controller, you can use the other set up where the plug and controller are both wired to the three prong. I have several Singers that use one or the other and when I want to use one I just grab the first cord/controller set that's handy.

I used the 301 foot controller today and the Featherweight just hums right along. Makes that pretty straight stitch that these old machines do so well. My husband is going to take it out to Kimberly's in Katy this week to have them over it. After the mess the wiring on the controller was I don't really want to use it much until someone looks at it. I told my husband I was lucky I didn't get burned from bad wiring in the plug.
