I was going to ask this, too. Once the machine head is out of the cabinet it is much much lighter. Those machines weigh a TON!!!!!

I had a cabinet like that and it was a little tricky to get the machine up and down. To put it back down you need to lift it upwards, just a tiny bit, and then push it down into the cabinet. If I remember correctly you will have to push down just a bit before the elevator will allow it to pop up. I think it's a safety thing just so that it won't accidently happen by itself.

I found a letter in the old machine from the Singer Company dated 1966 to the then owner. Lot's of attachments is in the drawer. My dh is going to clean and oil the machine, so I haven't got to play with her yet. Kinda of exciting to know if we loose power here in the country I can at least sew to stay warm *giggles*

That is a pretty machine and unique cabinet. Glad to see you have it open and in the process of getting it up and running.

She is all cleaned up and oiled and ready to go! My DH fixed anything that needed to be fixed. HOpefully I may get some time this weekend to try her out! She is going to need a name!
