I bought a White Rotary online for just $10 and $20 shipping. the seller didn't know how to pack one. he didn't strap the machine to the base and he shoved the attachments box and the power cords and foot pedal onto the bed and set the bent wood case onto it. it jostled loose from the base in the shipping and was stuck inside the case. I had to break the end of the case to get the machine out. there was a foam packing peanut in between the base and machine. he also had overexposed photos in the ad and it didn't look as bad in photos as it did in person. it's my project machine. most of the original japanning was worn off and it has a bad case of pin rash. so, here's what I got in the mail. ugh. I bought a beautiful Jones online and had it shipped by someone who knew how to pack a machine and she's a beauty. but here's my White. I am going to get her painted and I have replacement decals to put on, then clear coat her. I named her Patti after my grandma who passed away 2 weeks ago. this White is from 1928 and grammy was born in 1930. she would have liked it. I am so happy to read your comments here. My only non-Singer oldie is called a "Honeymoon". I understand that they were made by the Davis Company, but can't confirm this. I am still looking to learn its age. I gather from various snippets that Davis Co. was maybe sold to ??? , then I find "Honeymoon" seems to be associated with New Home and also, the name Minnesota. I am grateful for any info (resources) that will lead me to know more. Thank you

Does anyone know about the STANDARD company sewing machines? I was just given one, and I am unable to even find a picture of it online anywhere. I have searched for days. It has an eagle with a tire around in on the bed of the machine. It is very plain looking, no fancy designs. I have tried to post pictures, but and error message says the site is unavailable. I know all about the history of the company and that Singer bought them out, but haven't found anything about my machine. The STANDARD name is in large letters on the body of the machine front.

I have two of them and they both have the chain stitch spider. Somewhere on QB is a good discussion of Standard machines and spiders. I like mine. It does a beautiful stitch.

Usually, when a photo won't post, it's too big for the forum. You need to reduce the size. You can do it by using a photo editing program. You can reduce it using Paint, which you can find under windows accessories on a Windows system.

Just won this beauty at an estate sale auction. It is missing the needle clip(?) the thing that holds the needle in place. Do I have to find the matching part or is there a universal part for it?

I've read through many of these threads and found some very good information, thank you.
I would like to know if anyone knows of a site that offers the old tensioners complete for the HA1 machines.
The closest thing I have found is for the Singer 15-91 but they look to be backwards, meaning the spring seems to come out on the left where the HA1's that I have come out on the right side.

Can’t you just rebuild the existing? I do them routinely. The springs are available on line. This should be a tutorial I made Taming the 15 clone tension... well maybe.....
