Default First Thrift Store Find - 1948 15-91

I have considered checking out the local thrift stores, but I don't really enjoy driving around and wasting my time. I broke down and gave it a shot today, found this 15-91 calling my name. I already have two of them, but I like this cabinet and decided to buy it. It was $22 before tax and a little less than $24 out the door. Not sure how I'm gonna hide this one from my wife. It'll probably just blend in with the others.

This one turns freely but certainly needs some oil. I'll check out the motor and wiring after giving it a little cleaning.

That was quite a find, a 15 with a potted motor. Can't beat it. Good for FMQ.

Nice! I really like the drawers and both the cabinet and machine are in good shape. We usually have the opposite problem here, hoping that my husband doesn't notice another machine. Actually he is pretty good about it, it is my kids that say another machine? Don't you already have one like that? lol

I don't have any duplicate cabinets, yet. Here's the whole family having a meeting in the kitchen.

I checked out the motor and wiring, certainly needs to be redone. Here's a couple pics of the beginning of the process.

WOW!!! I have my Aunt's 201-2, made in 1941, int hat same cabinet, with the stool.....It sat, unused for over 30 years, was filthy dirty, and the wiring from the motor to the plug was a mess.....after traveling from SC to NC and then home to Northern VA, I plugged it in and the light bulb even lit!! Motor needed only cleaning and greasing.......new wire from motor to plug, new rubber on bobbin winder and a new clutch and she is just PURRING!!! I love the cabinet that she sits in..........Yours in is beautiful shape! Cannot believe you got it that cheap. Love your other cabinets too!
