FMQ on a 66 Red Eye
A friend of mine has a 66Red Eye that she wants to use for FMQ. She is wondering if there is a darning foot available for this machine? It has a back-clamp instead of the side clamp for the feet. Is there maybe an adapter for it? Picture is below, just in case I didn't call the parts by their correct name.
I'm worried she will have troubles FMQ on it because of the horizontal bobbin. I have tried explaining it to her and encouraging looking around for either a 301 or a 15 model Singer. She is sure she'll get the 66 to work fine. I'm afraid she will get discouraged! She is fairly new to quilting and I honestly want to help her. Any one have good results FMQ on a treadle 66?

Yes there's an adaptor. I found it through the treadle-on net, and it's a lady some where in Florida who has them made. There have been a few posts on it here on QB in the past. Here's a blog post on it, and I think her e-mail is : [email protected] They were available about year ago, and I think there's still a chance.
They manage to darn and free motion well on 201s and 66s models, but like you say the favorites tend to be a model 15. I think it has a lot to do with how much you are willing to work with tension setting and finding a suitable thread and needle for the job. Those with vertical set bobbin cases tend to be very forgiving this way.
