Can someone tell me what foot I would use on my Singer 301 to do freemotion quilting
    Thanks Dixie

Darning foot; my favorite is the spring loaded one although not everyone likes the "hopping" foot. Works well for me.

Dixie..here is the one I use...I think I got it from sewclassic
It works great...I have done 3 quilts fmg with it. This is on my 301A, known as taking the slant-0-matic feet, I think.

I prefer the other foot sold by Sew Classic http://shop.SEW-CLASSIC.COM/Singer-S...oot-384037.htm

IMHO it gives better visibility. I have both types (with the grid) like above and the one I linked to. I always use that one. The grid may help for echo quilting but it gets in my way for FMQing in general.

I agree with Candace. I use the clear foot and also the vintage darning foot that is made for Singer slant machines.

I use an all metal darning foot, spring. I don't like the plastic feet because it gets dusty and fuzz sticks to it because of static. I like the open C shape of the metal foot much better.

Do they make a 1/4 foot for the 301A? I like the kind with the fence on the right side of the foot. Thanks

Yes, any slant 1/4" foot will work.
