Frister-Rossmann Hand crank

Ok I am going to try to post 3 pictures. They are with the slide just barely opened, partially open and then opened far enough to see the shuttle. Sometimes you need to turn the hand crank to get it all the way open or closed. after seeing your two beauties, I would apologize for the appearance, but I don't mind a machine that shows some of it's history.

I don't mind sings of age, wear and tear either leonf. I have to admit, I sit dow with a small tub of quick-glo, soft cloth and polish up all the metal bits, rust and grime just needs to come off. Yellow rose decals on yours leon, I wonder how it looked when it was new :- )

No need to apologize leonf. I have another one that was in the same shape as yours but three or more week of cleaning and oiling it is a wonderful sewer with great stitches. Not much to look at but I love using it.

Your machine is nice leonf, I take on one machine at a time, and I eagerly start oiling and cleaning and hope to make it stitch. You and Glenn are in a different league when it comes to sewing machines. Your fiddle base is nice too look at Glenn, it's just not as shiny and new looking as the two above, they stand out with the clean decals. There are still some roses left on it :- ) In fact it's a pluss they aren't too nice some times, I don't have any bad conscience using them then. Fine scratch marks will eventually come on a favorite machine.

You are right Mickey, the fiddle base is not much to look at but I take it to toga and camping and know it will do what I need it to do without worry with the finish on the the machine. It is well used and will continue to be well used with more scratches and dings as time goes on with use. It will outlast me. LOL

Your F and R is a treasure. I could never bring myself to keep a machine like this stored. I would have to clean and oil and put it to use. I really enjoy using both my F and R 's. They are well engineered and need to be used. I have pieced quilts and made Civil war costumes on mine. I have a mutt treadle I put it in if I need to go fast. I am lucky to have a manual too.
