Default Are FW/301 card tables different?

I know Singer made card tables for both the FWs and the 301s. What I don't know is are they different from each other, or interchangeable?

I ask because I picked up a table from CL on the way home from work today (for $25!!), and I'm not sure what I've got. My FW fits in it well enough, but I've never seen a table in person, and the hole seems a little big, or something, especially along the back side and the motor end. Also, is there a way to date (roughly) the tables? I know they had different style legs, but that's the extent of what I know.

Take a look and tell me what you think.

I don't know anything about the size of the inserts but I just wanted to say great deal. I keep looking but I've never run across a table anywhere yet.

Hi, yes there are a few 301 tables. If you go here there are pictures and measurements. I have the one made for short bed 301's, 400 and 500 series. http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_..._cabinets.html Scroll down to see card tables.

Thanks, Candace! Dunno why I hadn't thought to go look at ISMACS myself...probably the lack of dinner. According to that, what I have is indeed a FW table. I didn't care what it was when I got it-I figured either I'd keep it or clean it up and sell it, and either way come out ahead. I'm thrilled! I've been looking for one for ages, and this was the first I've seen that wasn't some astronomical price.

If the rain holds off this weekend, the table and I have a date with Howard's and some steel wool.

These are great tables and I take mine once a month usually to sew day. You got a great deal. Someone offered me this exact table for $25 too, but I turned it down as I don't own a FW. And then I told the woman it's true worth so she could do a little better for herself. They've really gone up in price!

I think I read where Mizkaki told someone that the 301 tables have a tan "border" or edge, and the ones for the FW have black...

    Nice find!!

According to ISMACS, you're right. And they're a faintly different shape; the edge/apron slants in slightly, and the legs slant out slightly.

Now, to track down Glen's refinishing threads and figure out what I'm going to do with the top...

yes mine has tan edges and the legs slant out slightly and the metal legs themselves slant in 'diameter' from table to floor and are 'square' not round..................my 301A and it's table came to me new in 1957 as a graduation gift.
