    Thanks crocee!
Cari: I just flagged them again. I don't care about the ridiculous price. It's NOT an antique and really doesn't even count as vintage either. It's just cheap Chinese garbage that Singer sold trying to capitalize on the past, probably because their present isn't so great and hasn't been for some time now.

Rodney, sometimes plain water and a light buffing with a rag will also remove sprayed on paint. You may have to touch up the finish afterward but you would probably have to do that anyway.

Just had an after thought. Wouldn't plain ole kerosene remove the stuff but not hurt the shellac or decals?

I flagged it too but it didn't give me a way to say why. I also sent him an email saying he was going to get flagged every time he posts this because he's deliberately misrepresenting and committing blatant fraud.

    I flagged him, too.

Here's one I really like. High price, though.

The fact that the seller would entertain the idea that anyone would purchase that abomination to use as a coffee table is totally hilarious. Come on, it isn't even painted mauve or robin's egg blue, though it is distressed.

    Nor is it steampunk.

That 237 is the same model as mine. Good basic machine.

An electric sewing machine in 1874? Correct me if I'm wrong but this ad just doesn't look right to me.

No, you're right it's not original. It had the hand wheel changed, put into a case and motor added sometime in it's life. Did you notice that along with that just wrong colored wiring it has a just wrong stretch belt? I hate those things.

Yes it is, that machine has metal gears, right? They're just on the inside of the art object, lol.

It's just a mash-up of sewing machine technology. A lot of treadle machines had motors added later on. Too bad it doesn't still have the spoked hand wheel. That they have the belt going around the bobbin winder pulley is pretty funny.
