I have one of those electrified wonders. I just got done sewing a bag out of upholstery fabric for my DIL's birthday. The bag is mostly done or I would snap a picture. I will say it was noisy - mostly the toothy belt but the shuttle made a clatter, too. BUT that said. It went through that upholstery material like nobody's business. I thought I didn't like that machine. I am having to eat my words. For an old long bobbin machine it was not bad at all. I never even ran out of thread. The only thing that would have gone through better would be a walking foot. That machine just keeps going. The motor on it is a good one, too. I do need some ear plugs........

An electric sewing machine in 1874? Correct me if I'm wrong but this ad just doesn't look right to me.

It's well done, I wonder if they did it freehand on that machine ( my mom probably could, I could never even come close - it would look like my cat wrote it if I tried.) or an embroidery machine. I suppose it's possible a monogrammer might do that, but the letters are so well joined.
