The thing about this ad that makes me "giggle" is - A) the extremely specific task this machine does and B) the fact that it is listed under "household items" on Craigslist. Oh, and C) the fact that the seller thinks that there's someone who'll see this and say, "Oh! Just what I've been looking for!" (Okay, it could happen, but still.)

I think it's pretty cool. If you're sewing a lot of straps its just the thing.

I would have given my eye teeth to have one of those when I was sewing ties on tents all the time!!! Wow!

Nice one (not sure about the price, though -- seems high):

Without seeing the serial number I cannot be sure but the cabinet looks like one of the earlier of the "automatic" style.

The 1st version of the W&G had glass tension disks and was adjusted like most machines. The machine we are most familiar with is called the automatic because there is literally NO adjustments other than sticth length.

Priced like it was on Antiques Roadshow... $300 - 350 is closer to what I would think is the sale point

Steve, you're an encyclopedia. Seriously, the Smithsonian needs you and for your restoration skills, too.

Yeah, the price feels a little high. I've seen the glass tension assemblies (I almost bought an old Union Special with them) and for aesthetic reasons, I tend to prefer those machines. But this one's nice, especially the cabinet.

I had the Juki Equivalent of that here for a few weeks. This one (not the Juki) reminds me of a conversation we have here fairly often. That big round wheel turns if it's like the Juki. These days we could never make a machine like that. Too many external moving parts - people might lose fingers, Danger Danger and all that...

Ugly green Kenmore with accessories for cheap. The seller wants it gone before I can drive up to that area.
