I hope you can get it Cathy. That's a great looking machine.
That $30 Singer is close and tempting but I've been spending money like I actually have some. I'm going to have to say no.

I even like the cabinet re-paint (at least, from the picture posted -- I'd need to see it in person, of course).
Doesn't look painted on my monitor. It's just a blonde economy cabinet.

As my comment implies, the picture isn't the best quality. But thanks for the correction just the same. What would I do without you?

I have 2 of these cabinets. As much as I hate it when people "upcycle", these cabinets would look better painted. My 201 came to me in the first one, it was ugly enough that I stripped the hardware and junked it.

Steve, you are showing the inner drawer side which is usually NOT finished, compared to the outside finished cabinet.

This one is really hard to tell, either bad lighting or turned green. It does look like the wood grain is showing, so probably not paint.

I don't actually own a blond cabinet (how did that happen?) but on all my OF singer cabinets, that drawer part is a noticeably different color than the exterior.

Since the machine looks entirely normal (mocha/cream two-tone), I'm guessing the cabinet has been stained green or painted with a watery latex to allow the grain to show through, a very common technique. It's just a guess, though. It's not something about which I feel the need to be right.

I've wound up with several blonde cabinets and none of them look like this one.

Cathy is right, the side of the drawer is thin unfinished plywood. All of my similar cabinets are like this. KRA, it's a tossup at this point. The blonde cabinet I scrapped was more of a light yellow color. My other one is technically the same, a blonde cabinet, but it has more of a greenish tint to it. Both are original. Like the difference of colors on the white/light green featherweights.
