I think you have found the perfect example of a "if you can't do it right, you shouldn't do it at all" paint job

Judging from the description I would say they know what it is. Ha! I wonder if they bought it that way.

Makes one wonder if the seller realizes what has happened to this poor machine and case.

"It's old and black. Of course it's a Singer."

Yup, and I hoovered my rug today, too! And found DH's Vise grips.

Can you believe this? I've never seen a 222 on this site before.

Singer? (Honest question) ....or some kind of hybrid? The channel for the belt is on the outside (forget which brand typically has that feature), but is says ...NGER on the arm. It has a rectangular column.... just doesn't look like a Singer to me. Just curious....

Singer W-9 . After Singer bought out Wheeler and Wilson, the Wilson 9 became Singer's W-9

Amazon is definitely not the place to look for a bargain on a vintage sewing machine. Have an old, worn Singer 27 in a crappy cabinet? Maybe you too can get $1150+S/H for it http://www.amazon.com/Antique-Singer...sewing+machine

Sews: Here's a much better deal, actually quite reasonable. The ad says Singer but I think the machine says Wheeler & Wilson. Same basic machine. Singer bought out Wheeler & Wilson and made them for a few years.

These are just interesting, I can't comment on price. I don't know enough to know if it's fair.
