That might be worth getting. I know I don't see too many transverse shuttle machines for $30 in my area. I'm not certain the treadle stand is homemade either. The tools required to make the parts would have been beyond what most average people would have had available at the time.

Msleepingbeauty: Looks like someone threw the White machine out of a truck. Even in that condition it would be worth grabbing as a parts machine. VS Whites aren't nearly as common as their rotary machines.

Looks like someone was painting their picket fence and decided to give Rex a coat.

That or accidentally dropped it in the bucket.
Who ever thought painting EVERYTHING on the machine was a good idea?

This is more a failure of a schools to teach things like home ec, or just people never being exposed to sewing machines at all... I emailed the guy and asked if he had a picture of the front. Here's his response:"No but I can get it. It looked the same all around." Really?!?! By the 60s, most machines had a few knobs on the front... Can't wait to see the other side, thinking the wheel looks like a Rocketeer though.

Definitely a Rocketeer and missing the front faceplate.

That one might be worth saving. I like the style of the desk and it's just 3 drawers that need stripped. Looks like someone swapped sides on the leaves on top while they were at it.
