Am I missing something here, or is this person trying to sell old plastic bobbins for 2-3 times the cost of the same bobbins new on Amazon or Ebay?

The cabinet that I had only had 2 little pieces of metal, not a whole front piece. All I would do to replicate this if I put the machine back into another cabinet that didn't have them is notch the spot that needed to be notched so everything would sit where it needed to be, bend a piece of "flat stock" - or use an angle bracket if one fit there - then drill a hole for the pin in the cradle and a hole for the screw to hold the bracket on. As Singer has shown us several times, there's more than one solution to any problem.

Regarding the cradle brackets/latches:

I took some pics of the bracket latches on the #40 Queen Anne cabinet that came with the Singer 301 I'm keeping. Here's one side (no part number on this latch.)

Finally, here's the business end, as viewed from above. I can only assume that the cork that supports the machine is original...it looks pretty good for a tiny piece of cork that's been (at least occasionally) supporting half the weight of a 301 SM for 63 years!

That's very different than the brackets I remember. I'm starting to wonder if mine was a rigged setup to begin with. Now I'm going to need to watch for another 301 in a cabinet.
