I don't recommend the featherweight for one reason only: it's so small there isn't much room for maneuvering the fabric around.

You will LOVE these machines!! I have many and have one that travels and one that stays and the others are on display. I also have a Elna Lotus SP that is just the greatest thing next to the featherweight. HAPPY DANCE!!!

Now all you need is the celery green one and the 222. The 222 is the free arm and I bet you will love that one too. they are so cute, but they do one heck of a job on sewing and easy to take care of.

Dont be surprised if they have a bad odor when you first get them, especially if they havent been restored. The cases usually smell horrible. There are many things you can do and you will find all the answers here.

    Hi,
Aside from the harp size issue, the 221 motor isn't designed for constant pedal-to-the-metal sewing so FMQ may lead to burnout.
    Enjoy ~

    Hi,
Aside from the harp size issue, FMQ isn't suggested on the 221 because the motor isn't designed to handle constant pedal-to-the-metal rapid sewing and may be at risk of burnout.
    Enjoy~

OK, since the Featherweight can not be used for the quilting of the quilt, can I use my 71 year old Singer 201? That is the only other machine I have. It is supposed to be a "work horse", but just want to make sure I can use it to do the quilting. I use it to make all my quilt tops. I purchased a walking foot for the machine and sure hope I can use it! Thank you for your responses!

FWs are very easy to thread and use. They have a beautiful stitch. I have 2 computerized machines, but I love my little Featherweight. It is just so cute!
