To thread most sewing machines, you go across to the first thread guide. Then you drop down to the tension - go around it - catch it on any thread guide and go up through the take up lever, then go down through any guides to the needle. Make sure the needle is in with the groove away from the bobbin then it goes down position. Maybe this link will help twiddle with it some more: http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...g-t182255.html To do the knobs, you turn the knob and the one on the right gets turned to set the pattern knob - at least that's how some of mine work. Some times when a machine is locked up like that the knobs will be locked up as well. A few drops of Tri flow and a bit of time might take care of it. The bobbin case goes in best if the take up lever is all the way up.

This looks very much like the machine I picked up today! Mine has a cam door on top but no cams. I am trying to free up the bobbin winder and wondering if the cam tray is supposed to b e canted at an angle or whether I should try and straighten it. It looks like yours doesn't take cams. Hmmm... the search goes on!
