I would think they would have the set screws because the machine is already in a cabinet and when I lower it into the cabinet the machine stays in the cabinet. See above for pics of the machine lowered and the cabinet closed.

Would I be right in this assumption?

The set screws should be in the machine if it can be raised or lowered. I wondered if it wasn't a 403. Those are my favorite sewing machine. You can't treadle them though, not unless you modify something. I like the old retro cabinet it came in.

What do you mean when you say you can't treadle them? I just wanted to put it in the cabinet and use the electric foot peddle, not the treadle.

    Stitch,

I'm pretty sure it will have the set screws if it's already in a cabinet.

Here is a couple links to Sew-Classic:
The first to a pair of cabinet hinges for less than the eBay auction. Skip eBay, go to Sew-Classics.

The second link is to the set screws. Just in case you need a set someday. I bought an extra set just for that reason:

Joe -- thanks for the links. I've ordered the parts. Had my husband measure the opening and look at the Singer 403A and he thinks it will work ok as long as we can take off the metal bracket on the side of the treadle cabinet where the belt would go. Will let you know and take pics if it works out ok. Thanks again for the help.
