The house is in Fort Worth. But I don't have a key and wouldn't do it or even have anyone do it, if I had one. The kids are wonderful and I love them, but they are also very private, somewhat reserved, and and don't appreciate interference, which is why I said I "gently suggested" that they donate what was left in the house. The reply was "we are donating it, to the man who bought the house." So I had to let it go. They close on the house this week, I think, anyway, so it's moot now.

But thanks for the idea! It's a very generous thought and offer!

I learned how to sew on a 401. My Mom had one (1959-60 purchase) and the schools had them for home ec class (1965-67). I had bought a used one from the local high school for $25 in the mid-70s and used it for years. I gave it to my SIL when I wanted to get a "modern" machine. That was long before I got "bit" by the vintage bug. I keep telling her if she ever wants to give it up I'd take it back. Great machine. I sewed clothes, drapes, upholstery...just about everything on this machine. Enjoy your machine!

I have a 401A and it is a workhorse...I love it...my favorite machine.
