Yikes! I was going to ask if anyone could hazard a guess as to why my 28K bobbin assembly won't lock against the hand wheel. I've been pushing the entire bobbin winding gear against the hand wheel with one thumb while I turn the hand crank to fill a bobbin.
It's no big deal to do but I was determined to try to figure out why it wouldn't 'engage'. Now I'm thinking "Never mind!"

Regular washer + old cupped will work

This is why winder assembly won't stay up toward the belt guard/handwheel. Chances are, it's the washer needing to be replaced. My thumb is resting on the belt guard.
Yours is a handcrank so some of this will not apply. Same principle of though probably with the bobbin winder itself.
I was reading my posts and I saw so many typos! I only have a cell phone, so its rough... guess you can't edit after it's been posted for a certain amount of time. Sorry about that!

Thanks for the suggestions, SewXwhat.
I don't have a washer or spring on my bobbin assembly. Am I supposed to? I wouldn't be surprised if they went MIA in the over 100 years of the machines existence.
Yikes and never mind because after seeing your photos I didn't think I could reassemble everything so it would wind a bobbin as well as it does now.

You can see my photos? I cannot see them when I click on them
You are Very welcome. I hope the photos are showing up. They won't for me. I was really happy to share the one about the thread guide on the long bobbin winder and how to position it.
