At one time I worked at a commercial sewing room, the oil trick always worked for us.

I am so glad the suggestion worked. I also have a 328K (my Christmas gift the first year my husband and I were married), and I've had it apart so many times it's not funny -- just for cleaning and lubrication. I don't do that any more -- why? Because my son was a sewing machine mechanic for 14 years. I just holler "help"! So glad it worked for you!
