Gonna have to take some time and watch through these all!
I have a lovely old dressmaker machine (made in japan, all metal, weights an absolute ton!) that sews through umpteen layers of fabric like butter!
BUT it is currently misbehaving and I'm having a hard time justifying $90 tune up fee for a $25 garage sale find (especially since I had 2 other machines that needed repairs recently...a vintage neechi and my everyday singer heavy duty machine).
Ladies, we have an expensive habit! $$$$

    Default Metal polish?

What kind of metal polish do you recommend? Especially for the pieces that are needing the cotton string used on them?

Which parts are you referring to? Are you referring about the thread guides and tension assembly? I think any metal polish will work. Just make sure to buff with a soft cloth. Have you looked at the videos in the first post of this thread?
