How do you make hemmers work?

No youtube isn't a problem. The Singer instructions in any of the manuals (including the VS2) clearly describe and show pictures of how to use it. Follow this, go slowly and expect to get it wrong a few times and I think you'll be just fine. I still have to learn about most of my attachments: They all take quite a while to become competent (for me at least).

It helped me to know that you can NOT start exactly at the corner. Finger press a bit, sew an inch or so, then wiggle the fabric into the corkscrew. After that, practice, and more practice.
Oh, and the other thing I found helpful for learning was stiff, thinish fabric. I starched the heck out of pieces from my scrap bag and used those until I got the hang of it.
