Default I fell off the wagon!

Ok, I have too many machines. I just don't have room to set them all up and enjoy them like I would like to. So, I went on a sewing machine diet. I don't look at them, I don't read about them, I REALLY went on that diet. Well, Saturday morning I was looking at my Facebook page and decided to brouse their swap section for my area. The first posting was for a DAVIS COFFIN TOP, (later discovered it is a VF). Well, I don't have a coffin top in my collection (not sure how that happened). So I posted, interested, can I see it. Well, it just happened to be very close to where I was going later that day. Who could resist? Not me!! The coffin top is in 3 pcs, but my enabler, ah, I mean, DH says he can fix it. The very interesting part of this find is that it has the original warranty paper with the salesman's name, the signature of the purchaser, and the date August 1897. The original instruction manual, all kinds of jewelry, several bobbins and 2 wooden tubes full of needles (about 10). The tredle table is very "dry", but in excellent shape; will clean and put a finish on it and it will be gorgeous. 4 drawers, 2 on each side, and a long/shallow drawer accross the front. The machine is very stiff, but moves, and most of the decalling is faded. But, it is mine! I have a Davis VF in my collection that I have cleaned up and sewed on, but it is one of those that I cannot get to easily so it doesn't get used like I would like. I am looking for a place to put them all up, maybe I will find one.

Congrats on your great find. Time to unbury the other Davis! Hoping you can post the serial number on front slide plate and entire date for my Davis records. Davis machines with warranties are scarce.

Thanks & Enjoy
Jon

Beautiful I would love to see a pic of the warranty! How interesting!!

I'm in the same boat as you. It's really hard to stay on a sewing machine diet.

I can very easily stay on my sewing machine diet - until I see a machine I want or "need". I fall off that wagon PDQ! Lovely machine and cabinet. Will look great when t is spruced up.
