    she's been picked up!!! Wheew! So it was the Niece of the Governor, and they sold it because the Museum did not want it... Lucky me... Serial number is 8,726,850 = 1889

    That isn't: The original manual from 1889 is a fantastic find.
    If those reels are cotton and old they'll be falling apart - I found that cotton disintegrates over time, which is why old clothing falls apart even when never worn.
    What's in the blue accessories box? Did you get a puzzle box? It would have come with one.

    I just asked about that Accessory tin.... updates when I get them...

    I actually "baited" this machine with a full puzzle box and full second set awaiting just the wood part. I even have two of the vary rare VS2 buttonholers waiting...

    My Mom said this morning (when I called her for Mothers day..) that the manual was "only half". I mentioned it could have spit and be both halves stacked, she agreed it probably was. It will be shipped with the head soon, the base to follow later.

    oh yes, I can see the layer of crud.... It is in NY still at my folks place. I live in Calif... i should have it in a week or so
