Mine looks like the New Royal VS machines but the tensioner is on the front instead of atop the machine. I've added a link to my Facebook thread with photos.

"Front" is typically considered like the pictures I posted, the same view you would have when you sit down to sew.
Did you check out the needlebar site I posted? they have a picture of a New Royal model with the front tension as you describe.

Were you able to see the photos with the Facebook link? There are some of the front there though I'll take more. I want to thoroughly document it before starting on restoration. It doesn't look like the models on the Needlebar site but does look like the photos hosted in the thread save for location of tension.
