Jones treadle with Queen Alexandra puffery
I just bought a Jones treadle, minus the stand for $40. The seller was getting rid of the last of a large group of machines he and his wife were in the habit of collecting and putting into shape, then going to a vacation in Africa and donating them to meet the people. He remembered having hand cranks on most of them being just a clamp on the hand wheel item. I would love to find one!
The only problem we found looking at and hand running the machine was that the front slide plate was missing. Suggestion where to go to find a replacement? England?
Photo to come when I can lift anything over 10 lbs from the car.

There is someone in England by the name of Helen Howes which from my understanding has a lot of vintage & antique sewing machine parts. I have never had contact with her, but have looked at her site. I've heard good things about her.
Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Farm supply stores. They have steering wheel knobs. KInda tacky but they work. Alas, they don't have the 3:1 speed up that regular HC's have. You will have to adjust them a bit for your spoked wheel. I hope all goes well with your recovery.
