I did a bit of search about a year ago when I had my 201K rewired. I bought the black Singer zigzagger because someone recommended it to me. It's numbered #161157. After I have read the best one is the Swiss one, but seriously the price is over the top. I might go for a Greist or maybe the YS Star if I can find one, I think that's what foufymaus has. They still make make a buttonholer for high shanks. I like my old Singer buttonholer, thats' why I think there might be a better zigzagger for my old 201. My main problem is guiding the stitch along edges, complete horror with the #161157.

I woudn't say my large black Singer zigzagger (looks like this, just a picture from the web) make a lot of noise, it sort of clickety-clicks away in a fast efficient rythm. I have never worried about it. I had to oil it quite a bit for it to run smooth. I doubt mine has seen much use at all, there's hardly any signs of wear. I have a very simple zigzagger too, I had almost forgotten. It's of a smaller, and lighter construction, not sure what it's called. It only zigzags, with a screw in the back for adustments of stitch width.
