Love it when things work out -White 77MG

Joe, that one is considered 3/4 size. The full size White is even larger! I know it doesn't seem 3/4 size when sitting next to other machines. It's more that it is not as long, the light fixture takes up the full distance between head and pillar. With the larger size, there is more room under the arm.
this is the full size version

Dottie Bug, psychonurse, Not sure what happened in my first post, I had some trouble posting the pic. Now I don't have all the control icons at the top of the post box so I have no idea if it will open when I repost the pic or not. But here goes: OK, well I can't post any pics today. The "Manage Attachments" feature is telling me a .jpg picture is not a valid file. That's BS but I can't post a pic. Sorry about that. Joe

When I bought mine I thought it was 3/4 size until I saw it. It's a much larger machine than a Singer 99, more comparable to a full size machine. Even with a magnesium body it weighs around 25 lbs. Maybe compared to other Whites of the time it's 3/4 size but it has the capacity of a full size machine.

Dottie Bug, psychonurse,
Here we go ... I hope:

White Model 77MG
And for comparison:

White DRESSMASTER
The wood bases are not the same size, so that does make size comparison a bit harder.

Joe,
The stain is from grape jelly spilled while some mom was both comforting a crying child and making clothes for same child. The jelly spilled on the machine and close to but not on the fabric. She could only save one so chose the clothing which was needed the next day. By the time she had time to wipe up the jelly, it had stained the machine permanently. She considered it a badge of honor for helping her clothe her children.
Might not be the real story but a good yarn nonetheless.
