Lucky, lucky me... Singer 301

Guess I will look for Singer lube for the motor grease tube then.
Yes, the bench was packed with all kinds of vintage sewing junk. I threw most of it away... There were several bobbins for the machine but not a lot else. A buttonhole attachment. And a zipper foot. I have a 403 tho, so I can use it's feet on the 301 if I need to. Don't forsee needing to use any other feet. It didn't have a manual, but I found one online. It's cool that you can drop the feed dogs and darn or FMQ. Definitely need to experiment with that.

Great find! Love my 301, but is not the beautiful black like yours. I don't think I would use Liquid Wrench on the paint. I use plain old sewing machine oil to clean the paint. An OSMG once told me he uses baby oil to clean the paint, but I have never tried that so couldn't recommend that! Have fun!

I was only thinking of Liquid Wrench on the parts that get oiled. Then oil, after I remove the LW and gunk. The machine head itself is pretty nice. Nothing but dusting required. I haven't ever had LW remove black paint, but knowing it can, I probably won't use it.
I'm pretty jazzed with this little machine... especially the feature that it can lift right out of its cabinet so easily, and be carried around as a portable. I'd like to get it running a little quieter and hope the tri flo grease will help with that. It really sounds exactly like a 403 I have. My quietest Singer is my treadle 66, which goes "tickety tickety tickety". It's a soothing, quiet sound.
