This is not the prettiest I've ever seen but possibly the most interesting.

    Miriam,

What does the bobbin case and hook look like on this 15? Just curious.

LOL. It is where I look, too. It looks just like the last old Singer 15-30 - funny thing I have one clone (Simplex) made that way, too - it drove me crazy when I took it apart to clean - Glenn and I wrestled it back together in a mere couple hours. These have to come out as a unit, get cleaned and then re-assembled as a unit - otherwise things fly all over the place for some reason. The stuff you usually see on the outside corner are behind.
The bobbin case looks like any other Singer 15 bobbin case. (I tried to turn the picture but it didn't co-operate) Why do I see more dried up oil when I take pictures?

Boy, I was off-base on how that tension assembly is made. That's what I get for trying to "recall things" when I know that I suffer from CRS (Cain't Remember Shh...tuff).

    Thanks,

That looks like my 15-30 underside. My machine has that area painted in black. Painting might work for yours if it doesn't clean up like you want. BTW, my machine is from 1923. And doesn't have the old style tension release like yours.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Even across borders!! I've been suffering it for some time now.... hmm,.. not long after I started collecting vintage machines in fact....

    I'm sure it's a coincidence.

She may not be much to look at but that 15-30 sews nice and easy with beautiful stitches! Nothing better than an old well used machine.
