The Machine That I Fiddled With Today
#891
When I looked up my cost on the replacement parts, it was under $15 for all of the screws, springs and the latch. My cost on the BCase is close to $50. Typically my cost is close to US retail - there are some notable exceptions but I don't think this is one of them because of what Rodney posted below. That said, if the new parts don't fit the old cases, it's a waste of money. If you give those same numbers to Glenn Williams in Florida, he can probably supply originals. The part numbers came from an original Singer parts chart.

Good grief! Contact Glenn Williams and see what he has to say. It's possible all he has are complete cases but I bet there were some that were damaged - rusted or something. http://pages.suddenlink.net/joyof301s/glenn.htm

What Color Is It?
My little sewing buddy and I (Rex, the feared backyard dog) were sitting around watching it snow this morning, when we got into a disagreement about what color my Singer 28K2 is that is setting in front of the window we were looking out.
I say it’s Black and Gold.
He says it’s Black and White.
Which one of us is right?

Couldn't Resist This One
I saw 'Trudy' at my local thrift and knew the case was sought after and really hard to find in this good of shape, it even has the original gathered elastic band inside the case for the foot control. Electrical on the control and on the machine is perfect, and I was really happy when I opened it and inside was a very clean 401A.
I took her home and refurbished her with some new rubber feet as the others had hardenend and flattened like concrete, hubby soaked all of the grime off of the rubber feet screws, she has a semi new bobbin tire and needle plate plus an extra one, new needle etc. cleaned and oiled, downloaded a large easy to read manual and now she is ready for a new forever home. ANOTHER BEAUTY SAVED.
I just love saving a great machine and she sews wonderfully.
