Manual search
Half price sale at the thrift shop enticed me to pick up a cute little Kenmore machine. Model number, 385.1284490. It looks out of place with my vintage machines. I've searched my normal list of suppliers for a manual but haven't had any luck. Wondering if anyone has any other ideas?

I read somewhere about "sears archives", but don't know where that was. There is an old and vintage Kenmore sewing machine group on yahoo. I'd try that. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/OldKenmoreSewingMachines/info

Is this a free arm and white plastic machine?? Is there a number missing from what you posted? Could it possibly be 385.12814490? You may be able to find a manual for it here
http://www.shopyourway.com/manuals/s...85.%2012314990 You may have to type in 38512814490 without the decimal point for the model number from that link.
As you may know that a lot of Kenmore manuals cover more than one machine. You may have to find one close. Good luck.

Thank you, Janey! Yes, I was missing a number. I found the manual, now hope I can find the problem of the knocking and the failure of the needle picking up the bobbin thread. A flimsy machine compared to my old trusty reliables. Thanks again!
