Default Modern (or Capitol?) sewing machine model 777 questions

    Hi Everyone,

I was just given a older sewing machine. It seems to have a bit of everything- including an owners manual. I have been unable to find out anything about the machine as to its history, quality or where it was made. I have attached some pictures. The manual says

Super De Luxe Sewing Machine Instruction Manual. In the corner it say "Capitol", but the machine say "Modern". It seems like it must have been an expensive machine in its day. It has a push button reverse, does 10 zigzag stitches and weighs a ton!

If anyone knows anything about this machine, I would love to hear it.

    Michelle

Lucky you to have been gifted such an awesome sewing machine. Best of all it came with the manual. I am thinking that it was made in the late 60s or 70s. Can we see more pics and one of the manual? Sort of looks like a Morse machine to me.

I just got a sewing machine that looks identical to the one in the photo above. Does anyone know the name or other info about it? Or have some info from the instruction manual that might be useful? It works fine, except I don't know a lot about old sewing machines, so there are some things I can't figure out (ex: how to get the selector to work). Thanks!

The machine pictured was built by Brother.

As Cari stated, Brother made. Mid 60's, all metal, made in Japan and one heck of a machine.

My apologies in advance, I thought I had seen a sewing machine model 666 and while perusing CL found this - http://denver.craigslist.org/atq/5866007797.html sure looks like badged Universal model 666.

Janey, Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.
