The most recent really is the favorite
I spent some time yesterday twiddling with my turquoise-colored White that I picked up at a thrift shop a few weeks ago.
This one, "Betty":

I have had a heck of a time getting the belt right. The first one I tried was too large (black v-shape belt). I went onto Sew Classic and bought the belt they have listed for this specific machine - one of the amber belts with the tread. It IS smaller, but for some reason it slips like mad, can't get it tight enough to hold, even if I give it a shove at the start. So yesterday I pulled out a spare black v-shape belt I have on hand for my Singer 319 and even though it's a quarter-inch larger than the amber belt it grips much better. I need to go look online again and see if I can find one that's a little smaller, it still slips a bit at the start and I have lots of adjustment space left for a smaller belt.
But once I got that going, I played with her for awhile and she's a dreamy sewer. Quiet, smooth, and really cooks when you put the pedal down without sounding angry about it. Easy to adjust to a perfect quarter-inch seam. I'm in love!
I'm going out to the coast for 5 days, first week of December. Betty has earned her way into being earmarked as the machine that will come with me.
I spent some time cutting fabric and I have fabric for 3 quilt tops "kitted" up to take with me. I can't wait to spend some quality time with Betty, sewing and watching the waves! (I'll probably also bring Patricia, my FW, as backup. Just in case...)

That's a nice machine. When you get a belt that's the right size and works good, write the number down and don't loose it.

Isn't that cute? I can't claim credit, a friend of mine suggested it and as soon as she said it I knew it was the right name. I adore Betty White, she's awesome, just like this machine.
This was the first time I've bought an amber belt...don't think I'll be buying another! I hesitated to buy it because I'd heard they weren't so great, but since it was listed for this particular machine I figured it'd work. Since it doesn't, I'm disappointed that Sew Classic has it listed that way, but I guess one disappointment out of at least 15 orders isn't too bad a track record, LOL.
Funny...just now I went to their site to see if I can figure out the size of the belt I ordered, and I'm not seeing my White 1563 model listed anywhere! Well, I know the belt that's on there now is for my 319, so that must be 15-3/8" Next size down in the black belts that they have is 14-5/8 - I'll give that one a try.
If nothing else, when I'm done I'll have a whole supply of various belts on hand! LOL
That is exactly the same thing I've found when using the lugged amber belts. The sellers are pushing them as better, but they are not. The only lugged belts that I've found that actually work are the double lugged black belts like the 60s Kenmores came with. I think the pulleys were changed to match the belts. Other than those I avoid the amber lugged belts as much as possible.

Funny...just now I went to their site to see if I can figure out the size of the belt I ordered, and I'm not seeing my White 1563 model listed anywhere!
