Default My #1 most wanted for years is now mine and here!! 1885 Glove sewing machine

This is a clone... Yes, a clone) made in England by James Moffat. It is a copy of the Singer 46k1.

It is such a copy, many parts are interchangeable!

I am going to start with pics that show the CORRECT way to ship a machine.

I have removed the top layer of cardboard (shown to the right rear) and exposed the core wrap. There was a layer of the black foam above the cardboard

This is the core bundle wrapped in cling wrap so that NOTHING moves

With the wrap cut off and the top layer of white foam removed, you can see the machine nestled properly in it's bed of foam. Gosh, I do love a professional...

Very Cool and Congradulations. I'd love to see this thing at work on gloves. Ismacs says it's a double thread chainstitch.

In my hurry to clean it I forgot to remove the needle. ... (Edit: I broke it with the cleaning rag.......) I just ordered what a seller has labeled as 46x1 needkes but we'll see what I actually get. ..

According to Cathy (Mizkaki) that is also a TOX1 or 1571 or 23:65...... sigh

Congratulations, Steve, on your acquisition! I guess now you'll have to revise your "Want List" so you'll still have a #1 "Wanted" Machine".

Say Steve do you know anyone who could repair my favorite garden gloves? I have several pair that need a seam redone. LOL. What a cool machine.

That's one neat-looking machine! Thanks for showing the shipping material too. My husband thinks I'm crazy for hanging on to the styrofoam / box from my machine, I can now tell him "I may want to sell and ship someplace someday." (I can just hear him snorting "Not bloody likely!!)

Beautiful machine, Steve. As tiny as that needle is, could a clever person like yourself adapt a handsewing needle for the machine?
