I have a cabinet just like the one you're refinishing with a 30's Singer in it, they painted the cabinet white. One of these days I'll refinish it and refurbish the machine, I got them at an auction for $2.50. What a deal!

I use all of them at different times. The featherweight for piecing or for sewing away from home; the 401a for machine applique or any sewing; I plan to use the 301 for FMQ after practice. I have a 185j that I got from craigslist...just got it because it's cute. I have my grandma's 1950 Morse fotomatic which is an awesomely heavy, sturdy machine. Yes, I admit it....I'm addicted. lol

    I love your babies!!!

I learned to sew on the 403 when I was young and definitely wanted one to sew on now. Well, the first 400 series that I found on CL was a 401 and I bought her immediately. Later I found a 403 and bought her.
laughing...then I went to buy a cabinet and it had the 404 (straight stitch) so I bought the cabinet and her. I planned on getting rid of the 404 that was in the cabinet but she was so pretty.

    I love the Singer 400 series. :-P

I do have a couple of 301s and a couple of featherweights (one was my mothers) but I find that I don't use the 301s very much. In fact, I don't use the featherweights very much either. It is probably because I love the 401 and 403 so much.

I did have to come back and admit when I first read the heading I thought you were saying you had over 50 Singers. I was wondering, is she going to open a store?
