I would love, love, love to have a 1947 FW. I already have 2 other FW, but not that year make. One has a scroll faceplate and the other one doesn't.

I wonder if the machine has "aluminum rot". Hopefully one of the more experienced members will chime in with an opinion. That is not a good thing and it takes extreme measures to halt it.

Congratulations on getting "yourself" a birthday present. DH gave me one for my birthday, but I've been looking for one for a long, long time and the only reason he gets credit for getting it for me is that I overlooked it when we were strolling through an antique mall last week, plus he paid the asking price, and I might not have.....mine is a 1941 model, and in almost pristine condition. Only needed oiling, a new needle, and some little clean out in the tension area. Two of my sisters gave me money for my birthday, so we went to Whittle's yesterday, and I bought myself a quilt and pattern to make for MEEEEEEEE. I plan to try to post pictures of my progress from beginning to end; the key word here being "plan"......

You will adore her. I would be tempted to leave her "as is." She has character and looks well loved!
