I am still trying to figure out how to get it into my hobby room without having to put in a new set of patio doors! I think I will repaint the desk white and lime green with a dash of turquoise and gold leaf accents. I love colors and it is just so big and ugly brown it needs my signature funky chic artistic touches. ( smiles sheepishly)
Can't wait to see it painted! Please post a pick when you do get around to it.

Thanks for all of the helpful hints and encouraging words. I was really surprised when I read foufymas typewriter links. My keys are green too under all of the grime.! They looked black! I was so surprised and excited. If this puppy ends up working well it well be my one and only. I can't imagine having fifty of them laying around but I am up to about thirty sewing machines...sigh. I do have 30 sewing machines though. I am not sure if I want to make the monster desk a sewing desk or a typewriter desk. I will have to think about that for awhile.

Half are going to be rehomed but I have to sand down and finish the cases and paint the tables but it has been so cold lately I am waiting for some warmer weather to arrive. I think I have a dozen machines I want to keep for me and that's plenty. I will post pics of all, I promise.

I am glad to read you are going to keep it. I have been considering buying one of the new sewing desk units and they are a fortune! Sadly I can't justify that kind of money.

Lucky you to have found such a great deal!

Thanks, I am still fairly new to the world of vintage sewing machines. The new desks for sewing are outrageous I price!!!!! I really didn't know the big desks were so desirable. It was just so big and ...and...brown. But peeps here convinced me to keep it just by the positive things they posted and now I know what a great find it was. I started searching the web and there is not many at all of the big guys like this one. It is a Montgomery Wards desk, I found the sticker.

I've my wife's original MW machine to fit the desk. Her cabinet succumbed many years back. Wish I had your desk. Glad you are salvaging it. The desks and cabinets are not as plentiful as the machines.

I love the desk and would take it in a heartbeat, but TN is a little too far!
