Wow, it seems a minor miracle that you were able to get the paint off the 29 without losing the decals. It looks great! The Spartan has a big motor for a 3/4 size machine. Is it original? The machine seems in perfect condition, including the plastic base. How do you like sewing on the 128? It looks like you have a walking foot on it and an unusual foot on the bed -- a darning foot? or is it a needle threader?

Sheila,
I love the 128 especially since it was made the year my wife was born! That flat gadget is a antique German copy of a Singer needle threader. Both of my Spartan's are all original. I just put the walking foot on the other night trying to sew placemats and have the top and bottom fabrics exit at the same time. Last night I put a fusible liner between pieces, but I think the mats are too thin. With a 1/8" batting the walking foot should allow top and bottom piece to matchup.

Nice looking machines there, Rodney. When you said “first” in the other thread, I didn’t catch that it may be the first you were showing us, or that it may be the first of many.
The first machine that I ever got (other than my wife’s machines) is a Singer 66-1 back-clamper that I cleaned up and attached a hand crank to it for a portable. I still have it, but I don’t use it much since adding a whole bunch more machines to my herd. I still like handcranks because of it though. I have 10 of them, counting my two boot patchers that also have a treadle to operate them, and I’m hoping to set up my Adler 205-64 as a hand crank. I spend a lot of time sewing on my powered industrials by hand wheeling them too, due to the nature of my use for them to do mending and repairs.
