My new machine

For years, Singer foot controllers were designed to also be mounted inside the cabinet and operated by knee. I believe this machine has this option. Sometimes they're a little stiff to remove from the mounting plate (a good thing - you don't want them dropping out) and people mistakenly believe it to be a permanent installation. Careful, persistent tapping (in the right direction!) will usually knock them free for use on the floor.

Y'all are right. I found the presser foot mounted inside the cabinet. Took her to the sewing place and dropped her off for a cleaning and checkup. I figure $70 is worth it hoping there isn't any additional problems. I lack the confidence to do it myself. You should see the cabinet. It is so dusty/dirty. My husband said I should take it out to the yard and hose it down. I tried calmly to explain that you can't hose down wood that it needs some TLC with some murphy's soap.

Thanks Manalto......I got the word back from the sewing shop and the machine is in great shape, but the foot controller wires have some open areas and the whole thing has to be replaced. He says he will have to replace it with an 'after market' model and it might not fit back in the slot on the inside of the cabinet for me to use the knee bar. I guess I can live with that as I have never used a knee bar before!

The controller can be re wired, it's easy to do. You should give the knee controller a try, the first time I used one I knew I was going to love it. I now have one cabinet set up for my Singers and one set up for my Japanese machines. No more chasing the controller around on the floor.

I don't know about your model pyffer3, but I think you can get an all in one pice wire and plug replacement (heat sealed plug and all), and then just fit the end to the pedal. The tricky part is to get the right plug for your model.
