Beautiful! The handwheel is probably nickle plated. You can still get nickle plating done but it can be a bit spendy, not outrageous, but more expensive than run of the mill chrome. I like the wear on it. It adds character.

What should we do about the missing veneer? Leave it as it is? Just smooth the edges that could snag fabric? Fill with wood putty? Or is there something better to do? Hubby is beginning to chomp at the bit to get started. I'm just afraid he will take an electric sander to it ...shudder, shudder!

Thats the evrey same decal set as mine, It may have 1/4 left of what you have. the machine was a rust ball, the cabinet looked like it had a old dried up scab all over it ..

Because of it being a fiddle and to me these are the prettest decals singer ever had ,, I paid 75 of this one..

If I ever find one that looks that nice, the decals to just great for flowers. There called hand painted. The decals after these were all screen printed.

If you have never been face to face with these flowered machines, They look 5 x's better in person..

Zip off a PM to Glenn... he's our resident expert with woodworking! I think NurseKnitsLaura has done veneer repair too...might want to check with her!

Glenn also has a tute on here on how to clean these machines up. Check it out. Those flowers are beautiful and please do be careful not to ruin them.

How lovely! I have a fiddle bed that once had those decals, very little left now. It's missing the shuttle and front slide plate, and I borrowed it's original needle bar to use on another machine. Currently it resides as a doorstop.

Yours will be a show stopper for sure! Tell hubby to try to have patience, the woodwork can be fixed--just don't rush it on that one. Keep a light hand on that cleaning too in order to keep those decals beautiful.
