My "New Williams" Vintage from late 1800's
Here are some pics of my machine. New Williams was a Canadian mfg. in Quebec which made machines in the
1800's but the factory had a massive fire in the late 1800's & never rebuilt.
The paint on the machine is quite different from the Singer machines (not shiny like theirs).
The cabinet is solid oak & in very good condition. It just needs a cleaning (not much) but a good wood wax would bring back it's wonderful sheen.
Hope you enjoy looking at them.

I believe the machine & the cabinet were a set but am not positive. All the holes are round so I gather it is a round key not square but I don't have one with it so can't say for sure. The people I bought it from didn't have a lot of infomation as they were not the original owners. They bought it from a judge whose wife used it & had for many years. The couple I bought it from just used it for decorative purposes as I will also. The pics of the cabinet are not too flattering but it is really lovely. A bit worn but not terribly. A little elbow grease should have it looking better soon.

Lovely to see one looking so good! Mine unfortunately has seen better days. Would you mind taking a pic or 2 of the bobbin shuttle so that I can see what it looks like..not sure if that will help me to find what I need or not but any help at this point is worthy.
...bought mine when we lived in Muskoka, there seem to be more of them to the north and east, I haven't seen many of them here in SW ON

Carol, that's beautiful, and I love the cabinet!
As for the key, get a flashlight a peek inside the round holes to see if it's a tri or quad sided key...very few of these cabinets took anything else...if there's a locked drawer, you should be able to open it with a small screwdriver.
You can usually pick up keys for them if you keep your eyes open at antique stores where they have a "box of keys" or on ebay.
